ISR provides a supportive, student-centered secondary learning environment, where student well-being, student leadership, and agency create opportunities for our learners to develop and practice essential thinking and learning skills, building the foundation for each individual adolescent's success as a global citizen and lifelong learner.

The age from 11 to 16 is a period of enormous intellectual, emotional and social change. It’s a time to be inspired and challenged, and it’s a time for support, empathy and building relationships.

At ISR, learners feel safe and secure in our school environment, they take initiative and feel confident enough to try new activities and to make mistakes.

Welcome to the ISR Secondary School, which opens its first grade level - Grade 6 - in the academic year 2023-2024

Our Secondary education provides a natural continuum from our Primary Years Programme (PYP) and offers our learners the opportunity to thrive and excel on their challenging international learning journey. We provide a holistic, nurturing environment during these significant learning years for each child to flourish and strive for excellence in all areas of school life. Our international framework, which is benchmarked against international learning standards, continues to encourage our learners to make practical connections within each subject area as our  learners explore and discover knowledge through global concepts, build and develop their learning skills, and extend their understanding through critical thinking and applying their learning to real world contexts.

OUR GRADE 6 - 10
CURRICULUM

Our Secondary learners explore a broad range of subjects divided across interdisciplinary units.

The units are concept based and examine knowledge holistically.

Cross-curricular links are created involving two or more subject areas.

Learners explore issues and ideas of personal, local and global significance in such a way that they strengthen their independent learning skills and can begin to pursue specific learning interests.

International School of Rimini is a candidate school* for the MYP. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.
* Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme (DP), or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.

Our curriculum covers:

When we design and develop our curriculum content we build on the knowledge, skills and principles our learners gained through their PYP years, and we focus on preparing our Secondary learners for the academic challenges that awaits them if they choose to pursue an IB Diploma pathway in grades 11 and 12 or move on to an alternative graduation path either in Italy or abroad.
